Aloha F.O.L.K. members,
I’m writing to catch you up on what’s been happening at F.O.L.K. and the libraries of Kona.
The most exciting news is our new website and logo. We hope you’ll love the new website and refer to it often. The new F.O.L.K logo was designed while updating our website. We have also reestablished our Facebook presence. Follow us at Friends of the Libraries, Kona on Facebook.
- We have been having monthly book sales on the Kailua Kona Public Library lanai. The are also daily book sales in both libraries’ lobbies.
- A new group of volunteers has been trained to help staff shelve returned books.
- We are signing up volunteers to participate in the statewide Count Week, where every person using the library in any way will get counted.
Next on our list is to nominate new people to come on our Board of Directors in 2023. For this, we need your help. We are asking you WHO DO YOU KNOW? Please think about your friends and coworkers to see who might be a good fit for F.O.L.K. We have several openings and are tailoring the positions to meet our changing needs. The main skill required would be willingness: willingness to come to monthly meetings and to direct the future of F.OLK., to help with book sales and programs, and to just do your best to support our libraries.
Perhaps you are interested in helping with programs? Or maybe publicity? Do you like to write? Can you take notes? Are you an organizer? Do you have people skills, or prefer to work behind the scenes? We will need people from all walks of life, so contact us via the website for more information.
We are holding the election in January, through our new website. To get ready for that, we will need to have some new candidates. Please reach out to us here to nominate yourself or someone else.
Thank you for your continued support.
A hui hou,
Pamela Wang
President
