Books For Babies
Over 50 babies are born each month at Kona Community Hospital. Thanks to F.O.L.K., all are sent home with a new board book. The purpose is to encourage new mothers to read to their children. Studies have found that babies/children that are read to and spoken to do better as they grow. We want to help families nurture literacy. Over 400 board books were distributed in 2018. This project is in partnership with: Kona ELKS Lodge, Reading is Fundamental (RIF), and Kona Family Literacy & Interaction Program (K-FLIP).
