Friendly Bus Thank-You Letters

The Friendly Bus project is one of the library programs that your Friends of the Libraries, Kona MEMBERSHIP pays for. In this project, every Kailua-Kona and Kealakekua DOE second grade classroom is invited to hop on a school bus to visit the library. Each class spends the morning with the staff to listen to stories, learn about borrowing books, and for some children getting their first library card! Early exposure to language and literacy helps children develop a love of reading. In order to support information and digital literacy in our community, our libraries believe this outreach opportunity is a valuable experience and F.O.L.K. agrees wholeheartedly.

Please enjoy a sample of the mahalo letters the library received this year. A Friendly Bus Mahalo Letter binder is available in the Children’s room if you would like to read more of the letters that were received.

If this project is something you would like to see continued, consider making a donation to Friends of the Libraries, Kona and note “Friendly Bus” on your check.

Mahalo!
