With help from a Friends of the Libraries of Hawaii grant, F.O.L.K. provides funds for bus transportation from Kona elementary schools to visit the Kailua-Kona Public Library. The Friendly Bus program targets second grade classes from twelve local elementary schools.

Students are hosted by the Kailua-Kona Library Children's Librarian who:

• Provides students with a Library tour.
• Issues the students their own library cards.
• Reinforces the joy of reading.
• Makes students aware of the resources available at the library for both their education and entertainment.
• Includes story reading by the librarian.
