We wish you a Happy and Healthy New Year.
We hope you will join us at our annual F.O.L.K. general meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 28th at 3pm at the Kailua-Kona Library lanai. The existing Officers and Board of Directors will give an overview of our 2024 accomplishments and then you will meet our proposed 2025 Officers and Board members.
Our existing Treasurer will be moving off-island in May. So, we are looking for a replacement that has an accounting background.
Treasurer Duties:
- Have a fiduciary duty to assure the Mission of FOLK is followed.
- Records cash and checks making banking transactions.
- Writes checks or makes bill payments from the bank account.
- Reconciles the bank account and develops monthly reports.
- Doing necessary financial and tax reporting to the State, FLH or the Federal Government.
- Work with the Board and the Libraries to develop an annual budget.
- Knowledge of QuickBooks is helpful.
We are also looking to expand our Board of Directors by adding 3 new Board positions. We welcome you to join our efforts. If you are interested, please click here to apply.
1. Volunteer Director
Since this is a new position, this Director will be allowed to develop our Volunteer Program. Some responsibilities include:
- Manages volunteer emails.
- Oversee the completion of volunteer requirements.
- Orientation for new volunteers.
- Maintaining volunteer roster on MailChimp.
- Schedule volunteers for activities and events as requested by the libraries as well as F.O.L.K.
2. Programs & Outreach Director
Duties include:
- Ensures a F.O.L.K presence at library programs. Let attendees know about F.O.L.K and that most Programs are sponsored by F.O.L.K. Set out a calabash for donations and have F.O.L.K membership brochures available.
- Represents F.O.L.K. at various local fairs and festivals with the intention of informing the public about who we are and what we do for the community. Invite them to become a F.O.L.K member.
3. Director At Large – A full voting board member without specific chair responsibilities.
Duties include:
- Attend board meetings and join committees.
- Available to take on tasks as the Board’s strategy evolves.
- Contributes knowledge, experience and skills to enrich discussions and enhance decision-making processes.
- Partakes in and contributes to governance and policy development,
- financial oversight, decision making, advocacy and outreach.
