About Friends of the Libraries, Kona

Our mission is to strengthen the Kailua-Kona and Kealakekua communities by enhancing library services and programs to improve literacy. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3), so donations are tax-deductible. EIN 99-0262509. We provide financial assistance and volunteers to the libraries. We work closely with the libraries while remaining independent and promote the importance of the library services offered to the community.

The State of Hawaii provides the public library building and staff. Most other supplies, circulation materials, programs for all ages, staff education, summer reading programs, and events are funded by Friends of the Libraries, Kona to enhance services to the community.

Join Our Community

F.O.L.K. Membership dues, book sales revenue, donations, grants, and fundraisers directly support both the Kailua Kona and Kealakekua Public Libraries.

F.O.L.K. Board Activities

The 2026 F.O.L.K. Board meets every third Tuesday of the month from 4-6:00 p.m. at the Kailua Kona Public Library.

All members of F.O.L.K. are welcome to join us.
