Donate

Your generous donations and grants enable F.O.L.K. to support our libraries, literacy, our scholarship recipients, and our community. This includes the Friendly Bus Program, which transports second graders from their school to the library for a tour, their own library card, and to check out a book to reinforce the importance of reading.  Through your donations, we can continue our support of the libraries and meet the needs of our Kona communities.

There are several ways you can donate:

  • General Donations: You can simply make a financial donation to F.O.L.K., which we’ll use to support the libraries. Just fill out the form below and choose the amount you would like to donate.
  • In-Memoriam Donations: You can make a financial donation on behalf of a deceased loved one and indicate a book with a bookplate in their honor. Fill out the form below and customize the in-memoriam options as you see fit.
  • Book Donations: You can donate and deliver physical books to F.O.L.K. and we’ll include them in our monthly book sales. All proceeds will be used to support the libraries. Skip down to the bottom of this page for details.
  • Vehicle Donation Program: Contact Kokua In Kind 808 834-6603 or email KOKUAINKIND@GMAIL.COM to donate your working or non-working vehicle working vehicles, boats, motorcycles, mopeds, or jet skis. Proceeds benefit F.O.L.K.
  • Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) Donations: Individuals over 73 may donate part of their RMD to a qualified 501(c)(3) such as F.O.L.K, and receive a tax deduction. Consult a financial advisor for further information.
  • Appreciated Stock: By donating appreciated stock shares directly to a 501(c)(3) non-profit like F.O.L.K. through our Schwab brokerage account, you avoid capital gains taxes. Consult a financial advisor for further information, or consult folk@folkhawaii.com
