With funds raised, Friends of the Libraries, Kona (F.O.L.K.) provides bus transportation for second-grade classes from Kailua-Kona and South Kona public or private elementary schools to visit the Kailua-Kona or Kealakekua Public Library.

Students are hosted by the Kailua-Kona Public Library or Kealakekua Public Library Children's Librarian who:

• Provides students with a Library tour.
• Issues the students their own library cards.
• Reinforces the joy of reading.
• Makes students aware of the resources available at the library for both their education and entertainment.
• Includes story reading by the librarian.
