Susan Cysewski
Susan grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. There she visited the CarnegieLibrary on Saturdays with her sisters and friends to pick out new books — atradition she cherished. As a teenager, she developed a fondness for coffee-tablebooks, purchasing her first one about Egypt when she was eighteen years old. Shestill hopes to visit the country someday.
After spending two years at college in Pittsburgh, Susan transferred to theUniversity of Colorado’s School of Journalism at Boulder. However, an unexpectedmove to Hawaii led her to complete her degree in English-Creative Writing. Hercareer has included technical writing, working for West Hawaii Today newspaper,and running her own graphic design business for nearly two decades.
Having lived full-time in Hawaii for thirty-three years, Susan now spendssummers in Seattle. She belongs to both the Hawaii Writers Guild and PacificNorthwest Writers Association, and is working on her novel. Her hobbies includesailing, painting, stock trading, and gardening on her one-acre property she shareswith her husband, Gerry, and their dog.
Susan has volunteered shelving returned books at the Kailua-Kona library.Currently, she assists with F.O.L.K.’s online rare & collectible book sales byproviding book descriptions and evaluations of each book’s condition forAbeBooks. Her volunteer work allows her to discover unique books — titles shenever would have encountered had she not become a F.O.L.K.volunteer. Susan is ahighly-valued member of F.O.L.K. and its sales team.
